Hi, I'm Aspen!
I'm a passionate world-builder and storyteller with a love of the arts and technology. I grew up skiing and hiking in the gorgeous mountains of Colorado, where my lifelong curiosity about the natural world blossomed. My interest in gaming began with a Nintendo GameCube and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Since then I've spent hundreds of hours exploring the expansive maps of open world adventure and RPG games like Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
My first love is poetry, and I work hard to incorporate it into every piece of interactive media I make. Hyacinth Marsh, Jami the Jelly, Never Land, and The Spaces of the Dark are all examples of level design work inspired by my own writing or poetic works by authors whose work I love. The results of incorporating literature into my designs are story-driven quests, emotionally-engaging dialogue, and playable spaces rich with environmental storytelling.
I believe games have the potential to change the way people see the world. I'm passionate about designing games that marry elegant systems with thoughtful narratives to create memorable experiences for players of all stripes.
I believe travel is the best way to gain perspective. I've visited all seven continents!
I love repping my studio and interfacing with fans. Representing Bethesda at QuakeCon 2019 was one of the coolest experiences ever!
Costuming is one of my favorite hobbies! I'm a regular attendee of my local ren faires and cons.
Winter or summer, I'll take any excuse to get to the mountains!
